    Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling (CMHSC) Programs

  • The School of Higher Education, Leadership, and Foundations (SCHELF) offers a limited number of scholarships and graduate assistantships to full-time students (enrolled in 9 graduate hours or more per semester for fall and spring) on a competitive basis. You must be planning on being enrolled full time over both fall and spring semesters in the academic year of the graduate assistant (GA) position.

    This is an employment application and should be treated as such. Application does not guarantee a position. A graduate assistantship provides full-time students with tuition remission and a stipend in exchange for 10-20 hours (based on individual contract) of work per week of the semester. The appointments are made for the academic year, beginning with fall semester.

    GA positions are offered in 1-academic-year increments, with a maximum of 2-academic-years. Second year position is not guaranteed. The tuition remission does not cover various academic fees assessed by the university. Positions do not fully cover the 60 credit hours needed for the CMHSC Programs

  • APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1.Eligibility: Funding is restricted to candidates with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (or a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher when graduate semesters hours are 9 or greater).


    2. Qualifications: Required skills and dispositions for all positions include:

    • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
    • Willingness to learn and ask questions for clarity
    • Strong work ethic and willingness to be flexible
    • Ability to work independently when assigned specific tasks
    • Good time management and organizational skills
    • Computer skills or willingness to learn (e.g., Word, Excel, Canvas, Prezi, Google Sites)
