The MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music (MACCM) at Bowling Green State University invites composers to submit scores for consideration for the 47th Annual New Music Festival (October 15-17, 2026). Selected works may be performed by distinguished faculty, guest performers, and/or student ensembles. Scores may also be considered for future MACCM year-round programming or New Music Festivals.
If selected for New Music Festival 47, composers will be asked to provide performance materials by May 2, 2026. Composers will receive a high-quality audio recording of the performance and the event will be live-streamed. Composers of selected works are encouraged to attend the Festival, October 15-17, 2026; MACCM can provide a $200 honorarium to help off-set travel expenses.
For best consideration, please submit works by March 1, 2026.
Guidelines:
- The call is open to all composers, regardless of age, nationality, gender, identity, ability, or career stage.
- Works may have been previously performed.
- Composers may submit UP TO 3 works.
- Works of any style, aesthetic will be accepted.
- Large ensemble (instrumental and/or vocal), chamber, solo, and electronic works are eligible.
Submission Materials:
- PDF of score.
- For electronic works, please provide a technical rider that includes any spatialization, video, live-processing, and equipment requirements.
- Optional audio (live audio preferred).
- Short bio (100 words max).
- Program note (200 words max).
