  • Dependent Student Without Parental Data on FAFSA 2025-2026

  • You indicated on your FAFSA form that you don’t have unusual circumstances, but your parent(s) is unwilling to provide consent and sign the FAFSA. If that is not correct, you may change your answer by logging into the FAFSA and update your response. From your Dashboard, click the link to "My Activity" to view your form's status. Select the button to "Start Correction" and follow the FSA instructions that will walk you through the process. Once you have changed your answer to "NO," you will then need to invite your parent/contributor to finish their portion. They will need their own FSA username and password to provide consent and sign the form.

If your situation has changed and you do have an unusual circumstance, you may qualify for a dependency override. Review the 2025 – 2026 Dependency Appeal Form on the SFA website to make sure you do not have a situation that
would indicate you should file that appeal.

  • If your situation and FAFSA answer have not changed, you and your parent(s) must sign the statement below to receive only a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan. As a reminder, NO other federal, state, or university need-based aid will be available.

By signing this document, I certify that all information reported on the FAFSA is complete and accurate. I further understand that the only financial aid the student listed above will receive for the 2025-2026 aid year is a Federal Direct Unsubsidized loan.
